Mixed reality device

BRIEF

 

To develop an entertainment device for the future.

(3 weeks academic project)

RESEARCH

 

The research started with exploring the future of entertainment which is when virtual reality and augmented reality grabbed my attention. These days, mixed reality is trending in almost all possible applications. Initially the main purpose of these kind of devices was for the gaming industry. But now the practical application of these kind of devices spans from surgical training, pilot training, logistics management, controlling the workflow in production units, drawing and creating 3D models to many more.

INSPIRATION BOARD

 

After careful observation, it was understood that the overall feel in the future could be either rustic, cyber punk like in the movie Ready Player One or that of clean, sophisticated cyborg like in the movie Oblivion. Therefore both directions were taken for inspiration for ideations.

IDEATION AND CONCEPT GENERATION

Based on the boards that were created, different form options were explored by keeping the technical constraints in mind. Between both directions, since it was felt that the explorations based on cyborg inspiration could be more valid in the present and future scenarios, this form language was finalised to be taken forward.

future of entertainment

Clean and smooth futuristic form which can be used for professional situation also. The black detail in the front gives the feeling of cyborg, and brilliantly hides the sensors which track hand movement and other technical components.

FEATURES

The front portion is free to be tilted when not in use and can be tightened using the grey dial on the side.

Provides fast charging with USB – C type port.

The head strap at the back can be tightened by rotating the wheels to hold the device tight.
